Pioneer of Visan winegrowing, Ferdinand Delaye was the first person who commercialized wine under the name "Côtes du Rhône Visan", by this way, he started to spread the vineyard fame.
World war 1 stopped this rise. When the war started, Ferdinand joined the French troops. He came back to Visan but died in 1922 from his wounds. His wife succeeded him at the head of the cellar and she was helped by her nephew from 1929.
As Visan wines were getting more and more famous, the winegrowers wanted to found a cooperative cellar to buy high-performing wine-making equipments and open up new markets. |
