After world war 1, several cooperative cellars appeared in our region. In 1937, the wine-growers were interested in creating a cooperative cellar in Visan. Mrs Delaye and her nephew, Mr Jean Ordener, who had succeeded her, proposed the winegrowers to use their cellar for this purpose. On decision of the chairman, Mr Roux, they created the Cave Cooperative "Les Coteaux" de Visan on the 21rst of March, 1937. Mr Paul Roux was the chairman until his death in 1958.
When the cellar was created there were 88 members and it had a housing capacity of 3000 hectolitres. Jean Ordener was nominated director. Since then, a special link unites this family to the cellar, three generations of directors from the founder's family have perpetuated Ferdinand Delaye's sense to quality and knowhow.
A private cellar which became a cooperative, this is the extraordinary history of "Les Coteaux de Visan" cellar.
Since its creation, all the men who presided over the destinies of "Les Coteaux de Visan"cellar have shared this same passion for their soil and quality wines. They have all worked to keep the authenticity and the quality of Visan wines , so that the Cave "Les Coteaux de Visan" remains a quality symbol and a special link between the winegrowers. |
