Exhibition BLOSSOMING by the Artist Gill Wayte at AnVis wine-tasting cellar from April 1rst to 30th

March 31, 2009

Gill Wayte, an Englishwoman in Provence ...

Her origins are British and she taught arts during eleven years at Dijon National School of Arts.
Gill Wayte likes France, especially Provence for its climate and its bright colours, its good wines and the welcoming people.
For a few years, Gill has been painting flowers and countrysides, recently, she realized her dream which was to integrate the countryside in all its states at the heart of floral pictures.
Thus, she associates the countrysides with her abstract perception of flowers and leaves, mixing up the insect's sight and the human being's one.
Gill's brush transforms then into a magic wand, her pictures sweep us along in a world where fiction is close to reality, like Alice in Wonderland, this fabulous artist succeeds in making us travel by changing her garden into the Eden of her dreams.

Spring inspires Gill Wayte, her new exhibition BLOSSOMING at Les Coteaux de Visan Wine-Tasting Space is like a floral fireworks, to be discovered as soon as possible for eyes pleasure.

BLOSSOMING

Every year when Spring arrives we notice and feel the difference – peoples’ behaviour, birdsong, warmer days and longer evenings; but what surprises me the most each Spring, in spite of having seen a good fifty Springtimes, is the change of decoration of the earth around and beneath my feet.

Flower bulbs, planted then often forgotten, have gathered force beneath the cold earth and now we see them, joyously in flower, liberated from their dark prison.
Stems and branches, naked during the Winter, begin to be clothed in a refreshing green, looking forward to the richer green of summer.

We gather flowers, we buy bouquets, just to have the texture, colour and scent of the season indoors.

All this is Springtime, something which exists in several dimensions. How can a painter reduce this to two dimensions with brushes and paint? One can’t.
The paintings I have hung on these walls can only be a hint, a little corner, of all that surrounds us, just my bouquet of flowers, but a bouquet which resists the changing of the seasons.
