The selections
In the vineyard but also in the winery, Les coteaux de Visan cellar have installed the most modern technics associated with the ancestral know-how to transcend the quality of this soil.
The best grapes coming from the oldest wines are chosen for the Côtes du Rhône Village wines. The yield is limited and grapes are hand-picked in order to preserve their quality. They also are sorted and classified at their arrival at the cellar according to their variety, the age of the vine, and the soil characteristics.

A pedological study was done on all the vineyard to evaluate the quality potential of each plot.
The selection is improving from year to year, now a viticultural technician looks after the vineyard to obtain better results.
He controls the sanitary state of the vineyard, the yield and decides when the grapes must be picked for each grape variety, soil and micro-climate.
The grapes which are picked well ripe will give the wines all their aroma and generosity.
The success of this process is based on the winegrowers'work. To encourage their efforts, they are paid according to the quality of their grapes and are invited during the year to taste the results of the selections of the various parcels. So they can appreciate the differences of each parcel and the relation between the grapes quality and the wine quality.

The diversity of the soils and the micro-climate of Visan soil, allows the making of wide range of wines, where we find supple and aromatic wines but also structured and full-bodied ones which are well-adapted for ageing.
